Services for Victoria's Stolen Generations

Resources, services and support are available to help Aboriginal people and their family members impacted by forcible removal from their families, community, culture and Country.

Stolen Generations Reparations

On 31 March 2022, the Victorian Government opened the Stolen Generations Reparations Package (Package). The Package is to help address the trauma and suffering caused by the forced removal of Aboriginal children from their families, culture and Country. Applications for the package close on 31 March 2027.

For more information, including how to apply, see Stolen Generations Reparations Package.

To enable Aboriginal leadership and decision-making in the design of the Package, the Victorian Government formed the Stolen Generations Reparations Steering Committee in August 2020. The Victorian Government would like to thank the Steering Committee, as well as those who participated in the community engagement process, for their willingness to share their stories and expertise to progress the development of the Package.

Where you can find support

In addition to the Package, Aboriginal people and their families can access services and support to address challenges and trauma experienced as members of the Stolen Generations. This includes inter-generational and trans-generational family members. Services available include counselling, family history services and healing programs. These services will also help you explore your Aboriginal family history.
